A record number of 456 guests turned out for the 8th Annual Scandinavian Christmas Dinner. Of these 456, 215 came from MNBC. Thank you all for turning out in such a great number!!!
The Hilton was "dressed to the hilt" for Christmas, with live (!!!!) Christmas Trees, lots of candlights and red decorations. I think we all got that "Christmassy" feeling.... The guests enjoyed gloegg, wine and beer in the reception area. When seated we were treated to a very nice speech by our Ambassador, H.E. Arild Braastad, who told us about his Christmas back in Norway. After that the children from the Swedish School in KL performed the Lucia Candlelight prosession and Swedish Christmas songs, backed by Cantus Musicus, a local/expat choir. The Lucia performance gave tears to many eyes, as did the choir afterwards singing traditional Christmas songs. A big buffet was waiting for hungry guests - the food was excellent (we only missed the pork we normally have for Christmas). Hanne Soervaag, a very good Norwegian singer/songwriter, gave us a taste of her singing/guitar-playing and I think we all wanted to hear more. And she DID come on stage again, after the Lucky Draw where the main prizes were a trip to Scandinavia by SAS and a 7 days cruise with Star Cruises. People were obviously enjoying themselves as many lingered by the tables, mingeling with friends and collegues. Thank you all our guests and a big THANK you to our sponsors: Jotun, Aker Kvaerner, SAS, APL, DNV and Din Baker.
